Rùngne Magdust — the chalk that keeps its grip

GEAR TEST • OFFICIAL SPECS × THE ROCK'N BLOC TAKE

The hook. Chalk designed to leave grip on the hold, not all the moisture from your hands in the bag.

Test conditions

An editorial review based on Rúngne’s official product information and a typical indoor session: resin holds, volumes, short attempts and regularly re-chalked hands. No measured performance gain or independent numerical result is claimed.

Official specifications

  • Stated blend: 70% chunks and 30% powder.
  • Original Magdust formula, designed by Rúngne for all conditions.
  • Described as grippy without excessive drying.
  • Available in individual bags and multipacks, among other formats.

Strengths

The mostly chunky blend lets you adjust the texture in your chalk bag. The powder provides quick coverage, while the chunks remain available when you want to top up between attempts.

Limitations

How chalk feels depends heavily on sweat, humidity and personal habits. Rúngne recommends its Superdry formula for very sweaty hands or very humid conditions. The price remains that of a premium product.

Rock’n Bloc verdict

We keep: the mixed texture, easy dosing and versatile approach. We leave: the idea that chalk can replace good route reading, careful brushing or well-managed attempts.
